NH SAS Reports (Grade 4)

Student reports from last spring’s NH SAS (NH Statewide Assessment System) were sent home with 4^th grade students today.

Hannafords Helps Schools Initiative

Starting September 2^nd and running through December 1^st, the Hannaford store located at 4 Jenkins Road, Bedford, NH is running its annual Hannaford Helps Schools program. For more information, please click HERE.

Halloween Costume Exchange

Bedford Girl Scouts is hosting their annual Halloween Costume Exchange on Saturday, September 29^th at McKelvie School from 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM. All costumes are $5, or bring one to donate and get one for 1/2 price! They are collecting new and gently used costumes, which can be brought into RBS and placed in the Halloween Costume Exchange box located outside of the library. Destination Imagination Info. Night

Destination Imagination Info. Night for K-8 will be held on Tuesday, September 25^th at 7PM in Room 17 of McKelvie Intermediate School. This is for all new parents who are interested in hearing more about the program. Returning families can register their children through the Google Form in next week’s Principal’s Note. Registration closes on Friday October 5, 2018. Destination Imagination is an extra-curricular that relies on parent volunteers. There is no guarantee that your child will be placed on a team, but we work very hard to place every child who registers. ONLINE VOLUNTEER FORM: Bedford PTG is excited to introduce a new, faster, paperless way to share your information for volunteering for Bedford Schools. Instead of sending home a paper volunteer form to fill out and return, we will now offer a Volunteer Google Form for each school. VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITES: Looking for some great opportunities to volunteer this year? The PTG has several district level and committee positions available…

Ski and Skate Committee members - Due to the success of our annual Ski and Skate Sale, we are looking for new members to be part of the planning committee. Our next committee meeting is Tuesday 9/18, 3:30pm at McKelvie library. You don’t need to be a skier to help with this event.

Color Blast Co-Coordinator and Committee Members: Get in on the Colorful Fun and be part of planning this amazing community event!! Color Blast is looking for 2 volunteers to share the role of event coordinator (responsible for the overall organization of the committee and event) along with anyone that might be interested in being involved with the planning and execution of this event.

District Gift Wrap Coordinator-Work with PTG VP Fundraising and our current Gift Wrap supplier (Meadow Farms) to set up and organize the fundraiser. Coordinate with school level coordinators the distribution, collection and processing of order forms.

MEET THE PRINCIPALS EVENT SEPTEMBER 27th: You are invited to join the PTG and the Principals from all six schools at our annual "Coffee with the Principals" event on Thursday, September 27th from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. at BCTV (10 Meetinghouse Road). This is a great opportunity to hear what each school has in store for the year. There will be a Q & A following the presentation. Light refreshments will be served and your young children are welcome to attend.

MEADOW FARMS GIFTS, WRAP AND MORE: Looking for quality gift wrap, everyday gifts, tote bags, and gourmet mixes? Our popular Gifts, Wrap & More fundraiser is just around the corner. Brochures will be coming home with elementary students at the end of the month with ordering details. Families, students, and staff at McKelvie, RAL and BHS will be able to order online. 40% of sales goes back to our schools. Sale runs from Friday 9/28-Friday 10/12. More details coming soon.

Hopefully, the high heat has subsided and we can get back to temperate classrooms and playground. Our students were certainly troupers through all of this! Thank you to parents for your understanding and generosity. The students and staff really appreciated the fans and cold treats that were sent in!

Planting Volunteers

Since fall (aka “mum weather”) is right around the corner, we would love it if we could get a few people to help us out with the following:

1. Purchase (and we would reimburse) and plant some mums in our planter at the entrance of the school.

2. Clean up the small garden located in the front of the building.

REMINDERS:

Dismissal Information & Identification

When providing dismissal information (i.e. who will be picking up your child(ren) from school), please use proper names instead of grandmother, nanny, neighbor, friend, etc. Staff members doing parent pick-up duty may need to ask for ID for those people they don't know, and therefore need a name to go with the ID. Please be patient with staff members at the start of the year as they get to know parents/care takers.

A Message from our School Counselors (Mrs. Reese & Mrs. Kenny)

We are excited to have two counselors on board this year in our counseling department. Marty Reese, who has been with us for many years, and Martina Kenny, who was a counselor intern here at RBS last year.

Martina will be working Monday, Tuesday and a half day Thursday.

Marty will be working Wednesday, Friday and a half day Thursday.

Please call either counselor with any questions or concerns you may have regarding your children and they will be happy to help.

RBS Counselors’ Corner

RBS Garden

Please come by (after school hours) to check out our garden. There are still beans, swiss chard, some potatoes, green onions, cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, and yellow and green zucchini squash to pick during the next month.

Automated Attendance Call

Again this year, families in the Bedford School District will receive a phone call confirming their child's absence via our "School Messenger" system. Once we have taken attendance, a message will be generated confirming your child's absence. The elementary calls will go out at approximately 9:30 AM, McKelvie and Lurgio will go out at 10:30 AM and the BHS at 11:00 AM. If this call comes to you in error, please contact the Main Office so that we can correct the attendance report.
