RBS Principal’s Notes
June 11, 2021
Thank you to all of our families for working with us in such a productive and collaborative manner during a very trying and unpredictable year. Your modeling of perseverance, grace, respect, support, kindness and the importance of working collaboratively for a greater good were invaluable lessons to your children.
I want to wish everyone a happy, healthy and relaxing summer! Best wishes to our 4th grade students who are moving up to McKelvie School, as well as those students who are moving over the summer. You will be missed at RBS!
Please take a look at the RBS Facebook page for pictures of our Kindergarten Recognition/Honk Out, and our 4th Grade Clap Out. Both were wonderful events!
RBS staff members put together an end-of-the-year video for our students. If you’d like to watch it, please click HERE.
IN THE NEWS:
Move-Up Day
Students were able to visit their new teachers and classmates for a brief time this morning. The children seemed excited to meet their teachers and some new friends!
First and second grade placement will be done by the end of July. Teachers will be reaching out to families once placement is complete.
Report Cards – Available Today at 12:45 PM
Student report cards are available online only in the PowerSchool Parent Access Portal. In order to access your child’s report card in PowerSchool, please follow THESE DIRECTIONS. If you’d like a printed report card, please print it prior to July 1st, as it will not be available after we do roll over (sometime in July).
Robyn McGilvary Award
Each year we present a 4th grade student with the Robyn McGilvary Award. This is given to a student who has displayed Robyn’s character, warm-heartedness and humor. The recipient receives $100 (This money was donated by family and friends in lieu of flowers when Robyn passed away in April 2011.), flowers donated and presented by Robyn’s husband, John, and his/her name on a plaque, which is hung outside of the office at Riddle Brook School. This year’s winner is Charlie Cronin. Congratulations to Charlie and his family!

NH Department of Education Survey
The New Hampshire Department of Education wants to hear from staff, families, and community members. The 603 Bright Futures Survey is an opportunity for you to have your voice heard. These surveys will gather feedback around learning, school climate, family and community engagement, and parent involvement in special education. Parents completing the survey should complete it once for each child.
The New Hampshire Department of Education hopes to gain insight regarding the successes and challenges of the recent school year and to plan for the 2021-2022 school year. The Department of Education has partnered with Panorama Education to implement the 603 Bright Futures Survey. The survey will remain open until June 30.
Please choose from the following links to access the appropriate survey for your role. Your feedback is valuable.

Mask Update (Message from Superintendent Fournier)
Effective Monday, June 14th (Schools are not full and distancing is possible)
Bedford Mitigation Measures for Summer Programming
- Masks are recommended but not required for staff & students when indoors.
- Programs for students 12 and older will follow pre-pandemic protocols in addition to hand sanitizer and standard cleaning.
- Programs for students 11 and younger will be reduced density in order to accommodate 6' of distance for students who elect not to mask (or use plexiglass).
Note: Until DHHS modifies its contact tracing for positive cases (we have heard this is forthcoming), there are 3 ways in which students and staff can avoid quarantine from contact tracing:
1. Being vaccinated
2. 6 feet of distancing
3. 3 feet of distancing with a mask (or with a barrier)
***Changes from DHHS will result in the BSD updating our protocols.***

If you have plans to move after school gets out, please contact our secretary, Patty McMahon (mcmahonp@sau25.net), as soon as possible to let her know. This information impacts placement for us. In addition, she will let you know what you need to do in terms of paperwork. Thank you!
