RBS Principal’s Notes
June 10, 2019

I want to wish everyone a happy, healthy and relaxing summer!  Best wishes to our 4th grade students who are moving up to McKelvie School, as well as those students who are moving over the summer.  You will be missed at RBS!

IN THE NEWS:
Move-Up Day
Students were able to visit their new teachers and classmates for a brief time this morning.  The children seemed excited to meet their teachers and some new friends!

Robyn McGilvary Award
Each year we present a 4th grade student with the Robyn McGilvary Award.  This is given to a student who has displayed Robyn’s character, warm-heartedness and humor.  The recipient receives $100 (This money was donated by family and friends in lieu of flowers when Robyn passed away in April 2011.), flowers donated and presented by Robyn’s husband, John, and his/her name on a plaque, which is hung outside of the office at Riddle Brook School.  This year’s winner is Addie Wallat.  Congratulations to Addie and her family!

Lost and Found
The lost and found bin is overflowing!  Over the summer we will be donating anything left behind.  To be safe, parents should plan to stop by the school to claim any lost articles of clothing by the end of this week.

REMINDERS:
Report Cards
As a reminder, student report cards are available online only in the PowerSchool Parent Access Portal.   To access your child's report card online, log into the PowerSchool Parent Portal and you will see a Report Cards icon in the left hand pane.  When you click on this icon your child's report card will appear on the screen.  You can scroll to see the entire report card and choose to print it, if you'd like.  If you’d like a printed report card, please print it prior to July 1st, as it will not be available after we do roll over (sometime in July).  Anytime you click on the Report Cards icon, the most recent report card will generate.  Quarter 4 report cards will be available to view on Monday, June 10th at 12:45 PM.

Destination Imagination - Bedford DI in Top 10!
Earlier in the month, four teams from Bedford DI traveled to Kansas City as part of Team New Hampshire for the Global Finals tournament.  All 4 teams brought a stellar presentation finishing Top 40.  However, a shout out to The Mindblowers from McKelvie Intermediate School who placed 8th out of 65 teams from 17 countries, and made it onto the Top 10 Champions of the World.  This is a tremendous achievement for both Bedford and New Hampshire DI.  Bedford DI are so proud of all of our teams who brought solutions to both Regionals and State tournaments.  We would like to thank all of our volunteer adults who acted as Team Managers for these kids this season, as without them, these teams would not exist.  To all our students, thank you for a wonderful season of collaboration and creative problem solving.

Bedford DI would like to thank all of you who donated and helped with fundraising efforts.  Also, please note that the Ecosmith Shoe Drive has finished up, but you can continue to drop shoes, clothing, all fabrics, and stuffed animals in our Ecosmith bins year round in the school parking lots!!!!
