RBS Principal’s Notes
September 30, 2016
Have a great start to your October! It looks like we will be
getting some much-needed rain. Your lawns, wells, plants and pumpkin
patches will be grateful!
IN
THE NEWS:
Doors at RBS
When leaving RBS, please make sure to securely close the door
behind you (you may have to give it a pull). Although the outside doors
close automatically, we have trouble with them not latching properly, and as a
result, they are left ajar. We want to make sure that our building is
securely locked at all times during the school day. Thank you!
Harvest Festival
Harvest Festival Information
Please join us for our 4th Annual Harvest Festival on Saturday,
October 15th.
Harvest Festival Calendar Raffle
Information and ticket sheets for our annual calendar raffle were
sent home last week. Each student received 5 tickets (attached to each
calendar). Tickets cost $10 apiece. If additional sheets are
needed, please feel free to call the office or click on the flyer below.
We have $1,500 worth of prizes to give away during the month of October...feel
free to enter as many times as you'd like!
There will be a winner each school day until October 28th, and a
there is even a chance to win $500 at the Harvest Festival! Raffle
tickets will be collected until October 28th, and the homeroom that sells the
most raffle tickets in each grade level will win an extra recess!
RBS Student Directory
After this year, our current Directory Coordinator, Darlene Boyd,
will no longer be at RBS. Therefore, she is in need of an “apprentice”
who is willing to work with her this year to learn the ropes with the intent of
taking it over next year. If you are willing and able, please contact
Darlene directly at dbell0809@yahoo.com.
RBS 4th Grade Strings Club
STRINGS CLUB starts Monday, October 3rd!
Fourth graders are welcome to join STRINGS CLUB
at Riddle Brook School. There is still time and space for your son or
daughter. Our beginner violin players will meet Mondays from 2:30 to 3:30
PM in the Music Room. Mrs. Munz will be assisted by a volunteer mom who
plays violin and teaches private lessons. Please read the attached brochure
for further important information.
RBS Clothing
You can order Riddle Brook School clothing online! Please go
to www.bedfordwear.com.
Hover over Schools in the menu bar, and select Riddle
Brook School. An order typically takes 7-10 business days to be
delivered. You can order in a variety of colors and styles. We have
a few samples hanging in the office area so you can get an idea of what is
offered. Also, there is a size chart on the website for your reference.
10% of profits come back to the school.
Destination Imagination - Registration Closing
Thursday, October 6, 2016
Anyone still interested in participating in Destination
Imagination this year must register their child by Thursday, October 6th with
our DI Coordinator. To learn more about the program and how to provide
your child with this enrichment opportunity, please contact Marie Russell at
bedfordrocksdi@gmail.com.
Ecosmith Recycle Bins for Destination
Imagination
Did you know that every school in the district has an Ecosmith
Recycle Bin? This is a great way to donate/recycle old clothes while
helping raise funds for our teams who advance to Global Finals each year.
You can put any kind of fabric in these bins - towels and stuffed animals
too. Ripped shirts and pants with holes are fine, as well as well worn
shoes. Bedford DI greatly appreciates your continued participation in
this program.
Nutrition and Executive Functioning Messages
Nutrition Message
Power up with beans and peas for your protein and energy.
Eat a variety of protein packed foods. Include beans and
peas at dinner at least once a week.
Executive Functioning Message
When you are in the YELLOW Zone, you might feel frustrated,
worried or you could be overly excited, silly and wiggly. Your body is a
little out of control. To get back in the GREEN ZONE and ready for
learning, try these tools: Ask your teacher if you can take a short
break/walk, talk to them, squeeze a fidget ball or take belly breaths.
