RBS Principal’s
Notes

2018
IN THE NEWS:
Coat Drive
As we have in past
years, Riddle Brook School is sponsoring a Coat Drive. Items collected will be donated to needy
families. The drive runs from Monday, December 3rd –
Wednesday, December 19th.
Items to be collected include: clean hats, mittens/gloves, scarves and
coats for men, women, children and infants.
Boxes are located in the library hallway.
Food Pantry
RBS is working
with the Bedford Food Pantry to help
collect food items that are most needed by families. Every
other month we will be collecting 1 food item. Because we had our annual Thanksgiving Food
Drive, I moved our November drive to December.
For the month of December, that item is SINGLE SERVE CEREAL/OATMEAL.
If you are able, please bring in single serve cereal/oatmeal until Friday, December
21st. We will have a box for donations in the office hallway
outside of the library. Thank you so much for supporting this very worthy
cause, which supports Bedford families.
RBS Winter Concert
RHYTHMICS will present "Light Up The World," on our school
stage on Wednesday, December 12th at 6:30 PM.
Everyone is invited! This will be a fun hour of musical entertainment,
presented by our fourth grade chorus as they perform fun songs we hear on the
radio as well as holiday songs. We ask those who attend this free concert to
bring a toy for TOYS FOR TOTS to add to our stage decorations. We will
present our donations to the United States Marines during the
concert! (The snow date is December 19th).
Meanwhile, toys can be dropped off at school any day. Please help us meet
our goal of 500 toys for TOYS FOR TOTS 2018!
PTG News and
Information
HANNAFORD HELPS REUSEABLE BAG PROGRAM: Hannaford on Jenkins Road has chosen Bedford PTG to be the
beneficiary of the Community Bag program in December. For every green Community
reusable bag purchased at Hannaford, on JENKINS ROAD, in December, the
PTG will receive a $1.00 donation.
STAND BY ME COMMITTEE: PTG is proud to
sponsor Stand By Me , a day-long workshop event for all 7th
grade students and their parents to be held May 31st, 2019 at
SNHU. The parent committee is instrumental in organizing this
program. If you are interested in finding out more about Stand By Me or
would like to join the committee, contact Lurgio’s Guidance Secretary, Beth Fitzgerald or
simply come to the next meeting on December 13th 9:30am, at
Lurgio. You do NOT need to have a 7th grader to participate on the committee or
as a volunteer for the event.
DETECTIVE MATT FLEMING PRESENTS…Social Media: A Predator’s
Playground: Tuesday, December 4th,
7pm in the Ross A. Lurgio Media Center.
Bedford PTG and Ross A. Lurgio Middle School
are proud to host Detective Matt Fleming of the Bedford Police Department as he
presents about the dangers that teens face on social media. This 1.5 hour
presentation is specifically geared towards parents, educators and community
leaders who are looking to better understand the technology available to teens
today and the ways in which child predators use it to exploit them. Parents who
wish to bring their children should use caution as the subject matter is very
mature. Click here for more information.

REMINDERS:
Playground
Just a reminder
that students need boots, snow pants, coats, gloves/mittens, etc. to play on
the playground when we have snow.
Toys for
Tots at RBS
RHYTHMICS kicked
off its TOYS FOR TOTS collection during their rehearsal this week.
TOYS FOR TOTS is a well-known charity run by the U.S. Marine Corps
Reserve. We hope to collect more than 500 toys before our Winter Concert,
which is scheduled for December 12th. Until that day, boys,
girls and Riddle Brook community members are asked to deposit new, unwrapped
toys in the big boxes located in the halls and in the music room at
school. All the toys will be used as decorations on the edge of the stage
for the concert! Through our generosity, the holidays will be filled with
happiness for boys and girls who need our help!
