On behalf of the RBS staff, I would like to thank everyone for all of the wonderful tributes to staff members during Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week.  All of your gestures were very much appreciated.  Please know that we recognize how lucky we are to work in such a supportive community.

Spring Concert Wednesday May 16

Everyone is invited to the Bedford High School Theater at 6:30 PM on Wednesday evening for the RBS Spring Concert.  This free, entertaining program will feature third and fourth graders who are members of RHYTHMICS, RBS SINGERS and STRINGS CLUB.  Details are THIS ATTACHMENT for the members of the performing groups.  They need to arrive at the theater at 5:45 PM.

Destination Imagination - Shoes, Bags & Belt Drive Thru End of May

Bedford DI is having a special drive through Ecosmith Recyclers.  From now until May 30^th, you can donate all your old shoes, bags and belts (any condition) in the marked boxes in our school lobby.  These items must be placed in a special blue bag, but we can do that for you.  This is a great way to get your spring cleaning under way, while helping raise funds for the teams heading to Global Finals in Knoxville, TN.  Reminder…clothing, fabrics, stuffed animals, etc. can always be donated in the bin in the parking lot.  We appreciate your support.  For more info, contactbedfordrocksdi@gmail.com

Food Drive

RBS is working with the Bedford Food Pantry to help collect food items that are most needed by families.  Every other month we will be collecting 1 food item.  For the month of May, that item is INDIVIDUAL MAC N CHEESE CUPS.  If you are able, please bring in individual mac n cheese cups until Friday, June 1^st.  We will have a box for donations in the office hallway outside of the library.  Thank you so much for supporting this very worthy cause, which supports Bedford families.

Special Education Parent Involvement Survey 2018
Do you have a student with an IEP?  If so, please complete the New Hampshire Department of Education’s annual Parent Involvement survey.  Paper copies are in the mail to you, or you can complete the survey at www.NHParent.com by June 15, 2018.  Please share your feedback!  Your responses help us continue to improve.  Thank you for your time and participation!

Bedford Police Bike Rodeo

The Bedford Police Department will be hosting their annual Bike Rodeo on Sunday May 27, 2018 from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm.  It will be located in the upper parking lot of the Bedford High School, 47 Nashua Road.  This event is free and is open to all ages and abilities.  Kids will be given the opportunity to have their helmets checked and ride through obstacle courses.  Immediately after the Bike Rodeo those interested may ride their bikes during the Memorial Day parade with members of the Bedford Police Department bicycle unit starting at 1:00 pm.  The parade route will start at the Bedford High School and end at McKelvie Intermediate School.  Please join the members of the Bedford Police Department for this family fun event.   

4^th to 5^th Grade Band Information Night

The McKelvie Music Department will be touring the elementary schools on Tuesday, May 22^nd.  There will be a Band Information Night on Wednesday, May 23^rd at 6:00 PM in the McKelvie Cafeteria. There will be information for parents regarding sign-ups and instrument rentals, and instruments for students to view and hold.  Please email Christa Wickham at wickhamc@sau25.net with any questions.

We are looking forward to our annual Mother/Son Luau tonight from 6:00-7:30 in our multipurpose room.

I think we can now safely say that the last day of school is Wednesday, June 20^th.

BHS Lacrosse Literacy Day

We had a great time hosting the boys and girls varsity lacrosse teams on Tuesday.  They read to all of our classes and answered questions about lacrosse, high school and whole lot more!

Award for Kathy Parker

Kathy Parker (RBS Enrichment Teacher) has been chosen by the Hillsborough County Conservation District Board as their Conservation Educator of the Year.  She will be honored by the group on Wednesday, May 9^th.  Please join me in congratulating Kathy on a very well-deserved honor!  She has certainly been a catalyst for conservation at RBS for MANY years.

RBS Teacher Appreciation Week (May 7-11):  A NOTE FROM THE PTG

Dear Parents, 

The teachers and staff of Riddle Brook School do so much for our children- it is time to show our appreciation and celebrate them!  Next week (May 7-11) is our annual Teacher Appreciation Week.  We have planned a number of events to show the teachers how much they mean to us, and we need your help!  Below is an outline of the events we need donations for and links to the Sign-Up Genius pages for each event. 

On Tuesday, May 8, we will be serving the staff a light, grab-and-go breakfast from Panera and Dunkin’ Donuts.  On Wednesday, May 9, we will celebrate the staff turning our students into "Smart Cookies" with an afternoon cookie bar.  On Thursday, May 10, will feature a healthy snack cart and we will end the week on Friday with a PTG-sponsored, catered lunch.

BEDFORD PTG COLOR BLAST FUN RUN/WALK EVENT SUNDAY, JUNE 3^rd, 9:30AM AT BEDFORD HIGH SCHOOL 

Friday May 4^th is the deadline to get your swag bag and reduced adult registrant price! REGISTER NOW before the adult price increases to $30 and swag bags will NOT be available after May 4^th.  All those registered on or before May 4^th will be eligible to win a $100 Copper Door Gift Certificate.

DISTRICT YEAR IN REVIEW COMMUNITY MEETINGS - Join the Bedford PTG for two upcoming community meetings, first with Principals from all six of our schools on the Tuesday, 5/15 and then with Superintendent McGee on Wednesday, 5/30. Both meetings will be held at BCTV starting at 9:30AM.  We are looking to the community for topic ideas you’d like to hear discussed.  Please email bedfordnhptg@gmail.com by 5/9 with your questions/comments.

FISHER CATS DISCOUNTED TICKETS - Join the PTG for a fun family afternoon with the Fisher Cats on May 20^th. Arrive early for the High Five Tunnel and stay late to run the bases.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR STAND BY ME - Lurgio Middle School is hosting the 29th year of Stand By Me on Friday, May 18th @ SNHU. This event, for all seventh grade students and their parents/guardians, is in need of volunteers to help the day run smoothly. Since 7th grade families are participating in the event we are looking for volunteers from other grades to help. SCHOOL SUPPLY KIT PROGRAM UPDATE - Due to unforeseen circumstances with our supplier, PTG will be unable to offer pre-purchased school supply kits to families for 2018/19 school year. Teachers will still provide supply lists that families can utilize to shop on their own for supplies before the start of the school year.  Please note that we will be working on finding an alternative and we hope to re-introduce this program next spring for 2019/20 school year supplies. Thank you for your understanding as we continue to work to find the best supplier to meet Bedford School District’s needs.

Coffee Chat with the Special Education Facilitators 

Please join the special education facilitators from Riddle Brook School, Peter Woodbury School, Memorial School, and McKelvie Intermediate School on Wednesday, May 9^th from 8:30 AM to 9:30 AM as they host a coffee chat for parents of special education students to discuss and answer questions about the transition from fourth grade to fifth grade.  

This event will be will be held in the SAU boardroom at 103 County Road and hosted by Matt Munsey (RBS), Dan Mitchell (PWS), Pam Ilg (MEM), and Beth Purcell (MIS).  All parents/guardians of special education students are welcome to attend!

We had a wonderful all school concert this morning provided by the always-entertaining Spain Brothers!  The students loved singing some favorite songs as well as hearing some new ones.  It’s always fun to kick off our April Vacation with this concert!

Blue Ribbon Flag Raising

We braved the cold morning to go out and raise our Blue Ribbon Flag.  It was a special celebration for our school community!  Our students were given special bracelets to commemorate the event (donated by Spectrum Printing).  If you’re interested, you can view a video of the event HERE, and some pictures HERE.

I would also like to thank RBS parents Cindy Detscher and Carrie Wallat for providing the festive balloons and ordering our bracelets.  They played a big part in organizing the event.  I would also like to thank Mary Lawrence (grandmother of 2 RBS students) for providing a celebratory breakfast for our staff this morning.

Thank you to whomever left 2 beautiful vases of flowers at our front entrance this morning!  They are gorgeous and very appreciated!

4^th Grade Play

I hope many of you were able to attend our annual Fourth Grade Play Tuesday night.  This year’s play was Rats!  The Story of the Pied Piper.  As always, the students were SPECTACULAR!  A big thank you goes out to our teachers, Mrs. Munz, Mrs. Duhaime, Miss Ferns and Mrs. Read for pulling off such a wonderful event!

Mother/Son Dance (Luau Theme)

Mark your calendar!  Our annual Mother/Son Dance is scheduled for Friday, May 4^th.  Boys can bring any special adult to the dance.  Flyers were sent home, but I’ve included it HERE as well.

BHS Senior Project – Book Drive

Hello, I am Ryan Lee, and I am a senior at Bedford High School. For my Senior Project I will be conducting a book drive for students in need. I am looking for gently used or new books that are elementary level. These books will be donated to families in Nashua. The drop off bin will be located in the main floor hallway outside of the library. The bin will be there from April 16 - May 1. Buses at the Back Circle

After the back circle is closed for parent drop-off (at approximately 7:50 each morning), school buses often use the circle to drop off students.  If there is a bus in front of you with its stop sign out, please do not pass it.  This is a safety concern as well as against the law.

Gsuite Information for Parents
Some of our parents have asked for an explanation of our Gsuite, the tools within Chrome our students now use for much of their schoolwork .  Our technology teachers have developed this Gsuite Information for Parents.

For parents/guardians who are interested in seeing the work of their child, just ask your son/daughter to log in with their account or provide you with their password to showcase the work completed.
