Times: 2:00-7:00 PM.  Extended on Wednesday - open until 8:00 PM for Open House shoppers

PTG Information

Back to school greetings from the PTG! We are looking forward to another great school year full of fantastic programs and events for our students, staff and families. Our support drive is under way and if you’d like to make a donation to the PTG you can do so via PayPal by visiting our website www.bedfordptg.org. Donations via check can be made out to Bedford PTG and returned to school with students in the PTG support envelops that have been sent home. With your support we are able to put over $65,000/year in programs and events into our schools!!

K-8 Volunteer Packets should have come home with students. You can also access the forms at www.bedfordptg.org under Helpful Links/Forms.  Be sure to fill one out and return to child’s school(s) to be made aware of volunteer opportunities throughout the year.

Meet the Principals Event: You are invited to join the PTG and the Principals from all six schools at our annual "Coffee with the Principals" event on Wednesday, September 27^th from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. at BCTV (10 Meetinghouse Road).  This is a great opportunity to hear what each school has in store for the year.  There will be a Q & A following the presentation.  Light refreshments will be served and your young children are welcome to attend.

Infosnap

If you haven’t already, it’s very important that you complete your Infosnap.  Children will not be able to have their pictures taken or use technology until it is complete.  If you have any questions about it, please contact our main office.

Buddy Bench

If you were at RBS last year, you may remember from my Principal's Notes that our school was given a Buddy Bench for our playground.  The concept is simple, if a child doesn't have anyone to play with at recess, he/she can sit on the Buddy Bench signaling that he/she is looking for a friend to play with.  Other students can use that as an invitation to ask that child to play.  Teachers have discussed the Buddy Bench with their classes, so that we’re all using it properly.  THIS VIDEO provides a great explanation of the bench.

Harlem Wizards v. Lurgio Lions Fundraiser - Tickets on Sale Now!

On September 22, at 6:30 PM in the Bedford High School Gymnasium, staff from the Bedford School District will face-off against the Harlem Wizards basketball team.  All funds raised from this event will go towards extracurricular programs at Lurgio Middle School.  Click [HERE] to watch a video about the event then click [HERE] to buy your tickets.  You won’t want to miss out on this extraordinary community event!

As my primary form of communication, I will be sending you an email update every week—typically on Friday afternoon/evening.  The email will include action items (highlighted in yellow), reminders, and other important information.  I will also archive all of my notes on the RBS web page (Principal’s News).

Drop-Off and Dismissal Procedures

Morning Drop-Off:

When transporting your child to Riddle Brook School between 7:30 a.m. and 7:50 a.m., you will drop-off in the oval at the rear entrance of the school.  A duty teacher is available to supervise children at the drop off area beginning at 7:30 a.m.  From 7:50 AM - 8:00 AM, you will drop off at the main entrance.  I would recommend arriving by 7:50 as often as possible as traffic can get backed up at the main entrance.  If the children arrive late to their rooms (due to traffic) they will still be marked tardy.  The academic day begins at 8:00 a.m.  If you arrive after 8:00 a.m., you must park in Visitor Parking and accompany your child to the office to sign a clipboard noting his/her tardiness. 

In order to avoid traffic back up and being marked tardy, the best course of action is to take the bus or arrive at 7:30 AM.

Again this year families in the Bedford School District will receive a phone call confirming their child's absence via our "School Messenger" system.  Once we have taken attendance, a message will be generated confirming your child's absence.  The elementary calls will go out at approximately 9:30 AM, McKelvie and Lurgio will go out at 10:30 AM and the BHS at 11:00 AM.  If this call comes to you in error, please contact the Main Office so that we can correct the attendance report.

If you haven’t already, it’s very important that you complete your Infosnap.  Children will not be able to have their pictures taken or use technology until it is complete.  If you have any questions about it, please contact our main office.

Buddy Bench

Dear K+ and PM Kindergarten Parents,

It's almost "that" time!  We are really looking forward to having all of our new Kindergarten students at RBS!  In preparation for the 1st day of school, please fill out the attached Kindergarten Bus Tag form prior to Meet and Greet (Aug. 28th), and return it to your child’s teacher that day.  The form can also be found on the main page of our school's website under School News.
