I hope your summer has started out well!  The weather has certainly cooperated!

IN THE NEWS:

Glasses Found

A pair of children’s eye glasses (they appear to be prescription) was found recently.  Click HERE to see a picture.  If they belong to your child, please call our main office (471-1082) or stop by.

Ring Found

A community member found a gold ring on our playground yesterday.  If you are missing one, please call our main office (471-1082).

Summer Hours

The RBS main office will be open from 8:00 AM-2:00 PM from Monday, June 26^th – Friday, August 4^th.

RBS 4^th Grade Play

The RBS 4th Grade Play, "Once Upon a Dream," is now available for viewing on BCTV's website and will be airing on channel 23.  The link to the play can be found HERE.  The program will air on Channel 23 throughout the month.  Some dates/times are noted below:

6/23 at 8:00 AM

6/23 at 7:00 PM

6/24 at 11:00 AM

6/24 at 4:00 PM

REMINDERS:

Report Cards

As a reminder, student report cards are available online only in the PowerSchool Parent Access Portal.   To access your child's report card online, log into the PowerSchool Parent Portal and you will see a Report Cards icon in the left hand pane.  When you click on this icon your child's report card will appear on the screen.  You can scroll to see the entire report card and choose to print it, if you'd like.  If you’d like a printed report card, please print it prior to July 1^st, as it will not be available after we do roll over (some time in July).  Anytime you click on the Report Cards icon, the most recent report card will generate.  Quarter 4 report cards will be available to view on Monday, June 19^th at 12:45 PM.

Summer Skills Math Books

Summer is almost here!  If you would like to order a Summer Skills Math Sharpener workbook for your child, please click HERE and click on the “Parent Order” tab.  You will be able to order the book online and it will be shipped right to your house.

The purpose of these workbooks is to review the math skills taught during the school year.  It is suggested that you order a workbook that is at the same grade level that your child is in NOW.  

K & 1 Registration

As a reminder, if you have incoming kindergarten or grade 1 students for the 2017/18 school year, please come into the school to register them ASAP.

I want to wish everyone a happy, healthy and relaxing summer!  Best wishes to our 4^th grade students who are moving up to McKelvie School, as well as those students who are moving over the summer.  You will be missed at RBS!

IN THE NEWS:

Move-Up Day

Students were able to visit their new teachers and classmates for a brief time this morning.  The children seemed excited to meet their teachers and some new friends!

Robyn McGilvary Award

Each year we present a 4^th grade student with the Robyn McGilvary Award.  This is given to a student who has displayed Robyn’s character, warm-heartedness and humor.  The recipient receives $100 (This money was donated by family and friends in lieu of flowers when Robyn passed away in April 2011.), flowers donated and presented by Robyn’s husband, John, and his/her name on a plaque, which is hung outside of the office at Riddle Brook School.  This year’s winner is Sean Kraus.  Congratulations to Sean and his family!

Parent Digital Portfolio Access

All students in the Bedford School District have a digital portfolio.  Each year students select at least one project to include in their digital portfolio.  Students include a project description, an artifact, and a reflection stating what they learned as they created their artifact.  Appropriate technology standards are identified for each project as well.

Registration is now open for the 5^th Annual Friends of Aine Kid’s Try-athlon

​T​he 5th Annual Friends of Aine Kid’s Try-athlon will be held on Sunday, August 13, 2017.  The only event of its kind in the area, the kid’s try-athlon is designed specifically for children ages 4-15 years, in memory of Aine Phillips, who was a student at Riddle Brook School.  Beginning at the Bedford town pool, participants ages 4-10 years will swim 25 yards, run 1/2 mile and bike 1 mile.  Older participants ages 11-15 will swim 50 yards, run 1 mile and bike 2 miles.  We are pleased to announce that this year Millennium Running will be our event partner.  At the finish line, families are invited to enjoy music, jump roping, an obstacle course, water games, face painting, concessions, raffle prizes and much more!  Friends of Aine is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization.  All proceeds from this event go toward support for grieving children.  For more information, to register, volunteer or to make a donation, please visit www.friendsofaine.com or www.facebook.com/friendsofaine.

BHS Girls’ Basketball Clinic

The BHS girls’ basketball team will be hosting a series of skills clinics on Thursday evenings in July. (The first on is actually June 29^th.)  The clinics are for any girls entering 3^rd through 9^th grade and no basketball experience is required.  Please see THIS flyer for more information. 

Camp Invention

Does your child like to take things apart, and design, color and create?  Are you interested in unlocking your child's potential this summer?  Camp Invention may be a great fit.  This year's camp will be held at McKelvie Intermediate School July 10 - July 14 from 8:30 AM - 3:00 PM.  Camp Invention is the only nationally acclaimed summer enrichment day experience for children entering grades K through 6^th grade taught by certified teachers.  Here's a sneak peek at what's in store for this year’s camp. https://youtu.be/9OiFeEzgJwA.

Bedford Food Pantry – Items Needed for Children

Food Insecurity is a growing concern across the nation and right here in our own backyard.  Nearly 350 adults and children in Bedford qualify for food stamps and more than 167 families in Bedford meet the income standards for the government’s free school lunch program. 

If you are able to donate THESE ITEMS (these are ongoing donations), please bring them by the Bedford Food Pantry at the Bedford Presbyterian Church, 4 Church Road, Bedford, NH.

End of Year Information

Dear Parents,

We wanted to take this opportunity to thank you for helping us make this school year a success.  Our students have made many gains throughout the year and continue to grow academically, socially and emotionally.  You should be very proud of your child’s accomplishments.  We would also like to share with you a few items of interest as we bring to a close the 2016-2017 school year and look forward to the 2017-2018 school year.

1. Our last day of school for students in grades 1 – 4 is Monday, June 19th.  Our students will be dismissed at 12:20 PM.  There will be no After School Program that day.
2. Fourth Grade Parents:  A reminder that Clap Out will begin at 8:30 AM in the gym.  
3. Our last day of school for Kindergarten is June 15th.  Kindergarten Recognition Day is on June 16th at 9:30 AM (students should be at school at 9:00 AM).
4. Please remember to return any outstanding library books.  Also, please stop by the lost and found.  All unclaimed items will be given to charity at the close of the school year.
5. Please take a few moments to check your child’s lunch account status on-line.  Some students have fallen into a negative balance.  We ask that you correct this negative account as soon as possible so that the district does not have to activate collection procedures.  Thank you for your cooperation.
6. Health office reminder from Mrs. Ouellette:  Mrs. Ouellette would like you to pick up any medications (prescriptions, inhalers, epi-pens, Motrin/Tylenol, etc.) your child may have in the health office before the last day of school.  Any medications not picked up by the last day of school will be disposed of.
7. Meet and Greet for students and their parents in grades K – 4 will be on Monday, August 28th.  Grades 1 – 4 will take place from 1:30 – 3:00 PM, AM Kindergarten from 1:30-2:15 PM, PM Kindergarten from 2:15-3:00 PM. The first day of school is Tuesday, August 29th.
8. School hours for students in grades 1 – 4 will be from 8:00 AM – 2:20 PM.  
1. Morning Kindergarten will run from 8:00 – 10:40 AM.  Students may ride the bus to school and parents will pick them up in carpool at 10:40.
2. Afternoon Kindergarten will run from 11:40 – 2:20 PM.  Students will be dropped off in carpool at 11:40 and may ride the bus home.
9. School hours for students in grades 5 and 6 (McKelvie Intermediate School) will be from 8:50 AM – 3:15 PM.
