Ticks
Some parents have inquired as to whether or not we treat our playground
for ticks. I want to make sure that
parents know that we have not/do not treat our playgrounds. I know this is predicted to be a heavy year
for ticks, so if you are concerned, I wanted to refer you to some PREVENTION INFORMATION
(suggestions listed on page 2 under Can
Lyme Disease Be Prevented?).
Box Tops
for Education
The Box Tops for Education Program will be wrapping up for the school
year at the end of this month. Please
submit your Box Tops by May 25th in order to have them
count towards prizes!

Remember, good
Bosses know how to shift gears and be flexible problem solvers. Shifting can mean looking again at
information and thinking about situations in a brand new way. Being
flexible means you are able to change your plans when something goes wrong.
Hygiene
Nose blowing,
coughing and sneezing spread germs. Always cough or sneeze into a tissue
or into your elbow. If you use a tissue, don’t forget to wash your hands
afterward. Washing those germs away will keep you and everyone around you
happy and healthy.

COMMUNITY MEETING - Join the PTG and Superintendent Chip McGee
for our annual "Year in Review" community forum on Tuesday,
May 23rd @ 9:30 at BCTV (10 Meetinghouse Road). There will be discussion and Q&A following
a brief presentation. This is a great
opportunity to hear about district highlights from the school year! Light refreshments will be served and your

We’re excited to invite you to a PTG Community Night at the New
Hampshire Fisher Cats as they take on the Portland Sea Dogs
on Thursday, May 25th at 6:35 PM. Atlas Fireworks will be following the
game and no school on Friday! Join
us for some great family fun at the ballpark! Tickets are only $9/per person (regularly
$12/pp). To order tickets, download
order form and return to your school office by Friday, May 12th.
Take the hassle out
of BACK TO SCHOOL SUPPLY shopping. The Bedford PTG is partnering with
SchoolKidz, a Staples Company, to offer pre-ordered, grade level specific,
school supply kits for students. Kits
are available for students entering grades K-8. Order forms will be coming home in backpacks
by May 19th. You can
also order online at www.shopttkits.com and
enter your school’s account number. NOTE: When ordering, be sure to select the kit for
the grade your child will be entering in the fall. All orders are due
by June 9th. Kits
will be delivered directly to your child’s classroom prior to the first day of

Imagination heads to Global Finals
Good Luck to the Bedford
teams heading to Global Finals in Knoxville, TN next week. These 4 teams
have been relentlessly fundraising over the last few weeks and are so thankful
for all your support. We would also like to thank their mentors and team
managers, who volunteered their time to facilitate these kids since last
September. We wish them well in Knoxville.

Bicycle Rodeo - June 3 from 10:00
AM to 2:00 PM
The Bedford Police and
Fire Departments will be hosting their annual Bicycle Rodeo on June
3 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM in the parking lot of the Bedford Mall. Police and Fire Department personnel will be
on hand to provide bicycle and motorcycle demonstrations while educating
participants about bicycle safety.

Grade Band Information Night
The McKelvie Music
Department will be touring the elementary schools on Tuesday, May 23rd.
There will be a Band Information Night on Wednesday, May 24th at 6:00pm in
the McKelvie Cafeteria. There will be information for parents
regarding sign-ups and instrument rentals, and instruments for students to view

Invention
Does your child like to take things apart, and design, color and create? Are you interested in unlocking your child's
potential this summer? Camp Invention may be a great fit.
This year's camp will be held at McKelvie Intermediate School July 10 -
July 14 from 8:30 AM - 3:00 PM. Camp Invention is the only
nationally acclaimed summer enrichment day experience for children entering

Pan Mass Challenge
Please take a look at this

for details on the upcoming Pan Mass Challenge.
This is a bicycling event that provides Dana-Farber's doctors and
researchers the necessary resources to discover cures for all types of cancer. This year’s event will honor Emma Bechert, a
former RBS student, who passed away this past August.
Bedford DI Fundraiser
The Ecosmith shoes, bags
and belt donations continue through mid-May.
All items must be placed in the blue bags inside the boxes in
the lobby of your school. Ecosmith takes shoes in all conditions,
even that one shoe/sneaker who has lost its mate! All clothing and fabric
in regular bags can go directly into the Ecosmith bin in the parking
lots.
Bedford DI appreciates
your support to help these teams with their fundraising efforts for travel to
Global Finals in Knoxville, TN in May.

The school calendar for
next year can be found HERE. The last day of school for the 2017/18 is
Wednesday, June 13th.
Bedford Food Pantry – Items Needed for Children
Food Insecurity is a
growing concern across the nation and right here in our own backyard. Nearly 350 adults and children in Bedford
qualify for food stamps and more than 167 families in Bedford meet the income
standards for the government’s free school lunch program.
If you are able to donate THESE
ITEMS (these are ongoing donations), please bring them by the Bedford Food
Pantry at the Bedford Presbyterian Church, 4 Church Road, Bedford, NH.
