RBS Principal’s

February 1,
2019
It’s going to be
an exciting weekend for Patriots fans!
Hopefully, we’ll all be wearing our Patriots gear again on Monday in
celebration of their win!
Congratulations to
Mike Fournier who was named as our permanent superintendent! As a parent and a principal, I’m thrilled to
have him leading our district!

Lady’s Choice Dance – Tonight’s the Night!
Our annual Lady’s Choice Dance is tonight from 6:00-8:00 PM in the RBS

Wiggle Seats
and TheraBands
Our school was
lucky enough to receive a grant that provided wiggle seats and TheraBands to
every classroom in the building! TheraBands and wiggle seats are tools
that students can use at their desk to wiggle and fidget while they work. They
are an excellent way for kids to get their energy out while staying focused on
the task at hand. The kids are so excited to try out these new classroom tools. They will be in classrooms and available for
all students to use. Please let your
child’s teacher know if you would prefer that your child NOT use these tools in
class.
Substitutes
Needed
As you may know,
our district (and many others) are experiencing a critical shortage of
substitute teachers. We would love for
some of our parents to consider being a sub in our district (or even just Riddle
Brook School). If you’d like more
information about what it entails, please contact Matt Munsey at munseym@sau25.net or call the main office
at 471-1082 and our secretary will connect you.
Your children will LOVE having you in the building J
RBS Day at
the Monarchs
Please consider
joining us on Sunday, March 10th! Riddle
Brook School Day at the Monarchs is an event for our school community. Our choruses will lead the singing of the
National Anthem, and we will give high-fives to the players as they get back
onto the ice for the second period. You
can order your tickets online using THIS
LINK. Please take a look at THIS
FLYER for more information.
Bedford School District Deliberative Session
February 5th
Please click HERE
to read Superintendent Fournier’s blog to access information about the upcoming
BSD Deliberative Session and purposed warrant articles.
Paper
Retriever Recycling
Unfortunately, the
green and yellow paper recycling containers (Paper Retriever), which were
available to parents/community members have been removed from the district’s schools as
this company has gone out of business.
Therefore, there will no longer be any containers available on school
grounds for the public.

Thurs., Feb. 14 – Valentine’s

Dr. Dawn
Huebner Presentation on Anxiety in Children
Save the
Date: Join us on Wednesday, March 13th
at 6:30pm at McKelvie Intermediate School for a 90-minute Q&A with Dr. Dawn
Huebner, nationally recognized Psychologist, Parent Coach and author of
award-winning mental health books for kids. Dr. Huebner is best known for her
What to Do Guides - including What to Do When You Worry Too Much and Outsmarting
Worry - which have sold over 1 million copies. Rather than giving a
one-size-fits-all talk, Dr. Huebner will be answering audience questions about
how to recognize anxiety in kids, how to respond to it, and how to build skills
to better manage it. Questions can be submitted in advance, written on a note
card that evening (to maintain anonymity) or asked live. This is not a group
therapy session but instead an informative Q&A that will leave you with a
clearer understanding of anxiety, what parents do that inadvertently feeds it,
and how to help your child get on the path to defeating it.
Check out Dr.
Huebner in advance at her TEDx Talk on "Rethinking Anxiety: Learning to
face fear" HERE.
