RBS Principal’s Notes
October 28, 2016

Some of our grade levels celebrated Halloween today, and others will celebrate on Monday.  I’ll be sure to include pictures from the festivities in next week’s notes.

IN THE NEWS:
Parent Pick-Up Reminder
Parents, please remember to fill out the appropriate ticket/form, get in line and wait for your child to be called by a staff member.  Recently, it’s been quite chaotic, and potentially unsafe, in the gym as some parents are bypassing our dismissal system by calling their children over to them without checking out.  This system is in place in order to assure that your child is being dismissed to the proper person.

Make Life Sweeter Candy Drive
With the help of a BHS student, we will be conducting a weeklong post Halloween candy drive.  All of the collections will be donated to the New Horizons Soup Kitchen in Manchester.  New Horizons gratefully uses these donations as dessert when they serve the homeless, and they also pass it along as a nighttime treat to those homeless guests staying in the shelter.  The goal of the drive is to make life a little sweeter for those less fortunate.  All donations can be placed in the marked box outside the office, starting the day after Halloween until the end of the school day on Monday, November 7th.

Doors at RBS
When leaving RBS, please make sure to securely close the door behind you (you may have to give it a pull).  Although the outside doors close automatically, we have trouble with them not latching properly, and as a result, they are left ajar.  We want to make sure that our building is securely locked at all times during the school day.  Thank you!

RBS Clothing
You can order Riddle Brook School clothing online!  Please go to www.bedfordwear.com.  Hover over Schools in the menu bar, and select Riddle Brook School.  An order typically takes 7-10 business days to be delivered.  You can order in a variety of colors and styles.  We have a few samples hanging in the office area so you can get an idea of what is offered.  Also, there is a size chart on the website for your reference.  10% of profits come back to the school.

Ecosmith Recycle Bins for Destination Imagination
Did you know that every school in the district has an Ecosmith Recycle Bin?  This is a great way to donate/recycle old clothes while helping raise funds for our teams who advance to Global Finals each year.  You can put any kind of fabric in these bins - towels and stuffed animals too.  Ripped shirts and pants with holes are fine, as well as well worn shoes.  Bedford DI greatly appreciates your continued participation in this program.
