Executive Functioning and Physical Activity Messages
Executive Functioning
Remember the STOP sign will help you to read the room and be a good boss of yourself.  We talked about S for Space, T for time, and O for Objects.  Today let’s talk about P for People.  When you go into a new room or space, use your inner voice to ask:  Who are the people in this space?  What are they doing?  Look at the people’s faces and bodies.  Are they in the GREEN Zone; calm and ready to learn or play?  If they are, I should match my body and voice to theirs.  If not, I should use a GREEN Zone tool, so that I am calm and ready to learn or play.
Physical Activity
How much physical activity is enough?
For children aged 5-10, 60 minutes or more per day of moderate activity is recommended along with 3 days of vigorous activity.  Vigorous activities include:  a soccer game, shoveling and jogging.

Needed food items include:
Canned Tuna
Peanut butter
Breakfast cereal
Canned fruit
Fruit juice
Canned pasta sauce
Canned pasta
Canned beans
Macaroni and cheese
*Donations of cash are also welcomed in order to purchase food from the NH Food Bank (checks made out to Bedford Presbyterian Church).

On Tuesday, November 22nd the boxes will be donated as a contribution from the Riddle Brook School community.  Therefore, we will need all donations by Friday, November 18th.  Our Principal’s Advisory Group will be organizing and packing the donations on Monday, November 21st.

Parent Pick-Up Reminder
Parents, please remember to fill out the appropriate ticket/form, get in line and wait for your child to be called by a staff member.  Recently, it’s been quite chaotic, and potentially unsafe, in the gym as some parents are bypassing our dismissal system by calling their children over to them without checking out.  This system is in place in order to assure that your child is being dismissed to the proper person.

Pat’s Peak Ski Program
Bedford students in grades 1-8 are invited to take advantage of discounted ski/snowboard lessons at Pat’s Peak Ski Area in Henniker, NH.  This five week Friday night program includes 1-hour lessons and free ski time – under the lights until the 10PM closing time.  Discounted lift tickets are available for students who do not need lessons.  Included in the program is a free bonus day at Pat’s Peak, Gunstock, and Cranmore to be used from February 27th to the close of the 2017 season.  The 2017 Bedford Ski Program begins on Friday, January 6th and runs for 5 weeks.  The choice of lesson times is 3:30 – 4:30PM or 4:30 – 5:30PM.  Parents are responsible for providing transportation or arranging carpools.  Easy online registration is available at  Click on “Learn to Ski & Ride Program” and “Register Here”.  The username for the 3:30 lesson is bedford330 and bedford430 for the 4:30 lesson.  The Password is patspeak17.  More details are available at  Visit our table at the Bedford Ski and Skate Sale. RBS Clothing
You can order Riddle Brook School clothing online!  Please go to  Hover over Schools in the menu bar, and select Riddle Brook School.  An order typically takes 7-10 business days to be delivered.  You can order in a variety of colors and styles.  We have a few samples hanging in the office area so you can get an idea of what is offered.  Also, there is a size chart on the website for your reference.  10% of profits come back to the school.

Ecosmith Recycle Bins for Destination Imagination
Did you know that every school in the district has an Ecosmith Recycle Bin?  This is a great way to donate/recycle old clothes while helping raise funds for our teams who advance to Global Finals each year.  You can put any kind of fabric in these bins - towels and stuffed animals too.  Ripped shirts and pants with holes are fine, as well as well worn shoes.  Bedford DI greatly appreciates your continued participation in this program.
